With the one billion people in the world with disabilities, the vast majority of those with disabilities are in developing countries. The support of those with disabilities is affected due to increasing challenges of poverty that is often the forefront of not having the correct resources in supporting of persons with disabilities.

 

The effects of living with disabilities in Africa has been more of a sweeping aside the issue, and not dealing with protection and human rights of those that are disabled. The common issue is neglect and lack of awareness and also correct facilities that provide general assistance in the majority of the western world.

As a result many disabled people are children,  Due to the marginalisation and isolation and harsh treatment, many children in this manner become adults, with no former education.
